CULVER CITY, CA – Wednesday, May 18, 2016 – Sony Movie Channel heats up this summer, with a star-studded June programming roster featuring iconic war classics, action epics, tense thrillers, and more. This month’s lineup includes William Holden in BRIDGE ON THE RIVER KWAI, and Tom Cruise and Jack Nicholson in A FEW GOOD MEN; a special Fathers’ Day screening of IRON EAGLEDominic Purcell in THREE WAYGuy Pearce in LOCKOUT; stunts starring Val KilmerJohnny Depp, and Kevin Costner; and the network premiere of the 2013 cycling documentary THE ARMSTRONG LIE on Tuesday, June 28, at 10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT.

THE BRIDGE ON THE RIVER KWAI (1957)—Wed., June 1 at 8 p.m. ET

Alec Guinness delivers an award-winning performance as a POW forced to build a bridge for his Japanese captors, while a Navy Commander (William Holden) tries to destroy it, in this war epic that took home seven Oscars® in 1958, including Best Picture.

 

Killer Mysteries—Thurs., June 2 at 10 p.m. ET

Val Kilmer is on the case in a night of Killer Mysteries, starring as an FBI agent investigating a murder on a Sioux reservation in THUNDERHEART, with Sam Shepard. Then, Kilmer’s ex-Marine tries to get to the bottom of his friend’s mysterious disappearance in CONSPIRACY, with Gary Cole, at 12:10 a.m. ET.

 

Military Drama—Wed., June 3 at 8 p.m. ET

SMC deploys a pair of military dramas, featuring Tom Cruise as a rookie attorney defending Marines charged with murder in A FEW GOOD MEN, with Jack NicholsonKevin BaconKiefer Sutherland and Demi Moore. And John Travolta stars as a DEA agent searching for a missing Ranger (Samuel L. Jackson) in BASIC at 12:30 a.m. ET.

 

LOCKOUT (2013)—Wed., June 10 at 10 p.m. ET

Accused of treason, a CIA agent (Guy Pearce) is given the chance to clear his name. All he has to do is rescue the president’s daughter from a high-tech prison… in outer space.

 

COSTNER—Fri., June 17 at 7:45 p.m. ET

SMC puts the spotlight on Kevin Costner, starring as a retired Navy man whose affair sets off a chain reaction of violence and retribution in REVENGE, with Anthony Quinn. Then, Costner teams up with Kevin KlineScott Glenn, and Danny Glover to take down a corrupt sheriff (Brian Dennehy) in SILVERADO, at 10 p.m. ET.

 

Father’s Day In HD: IRON EAGLE (1986)—Sun., June 19 at 7 p.m. ET

Jason Gedric stars in this high-flying adventure, as a hotshot pilot who enlists the help of a wily Air Force ace (Louis Gossett Jr.) to rescue his father from behind enemy lines.

 

THREE WAY (2004)—Mon., June 20 at 10 p.m. ET

A widower (Dominic Purcell) gets more than he bargained for when a blackmail plot goes awry, in this 2004 thriller starring Dwight YoakamAli Larter, and Gina Gershon.

 

DEPP—Fri., June 24 at 10 p.m. ET

SMC salutes beloved leading man Johnny Depp in two of his quirkiest roles, starring as a reporter on a booze-soaked odyssey in the Hunter S. Thompson adaptation THE RUM DIARY, with Amber Heard. Then, Depp’s troubled writer is threatened by a psycho (John Turturro), in the Stephen King hit SECRET WINDOW, at 12:20 a.m. ET.

 

THE ARMSTRONG LIE (2013)—Network Premiere—Tues., June 28 at 10 p.m. ET

Shot over the course of four years, Oscar®-winning documentarian Alex Gibney chronicles Lance Armstrong from his inspirational comeback run, to the shocking doping investigation that led to the cycling superstar losing his seven Tour de France titles and being banned from the sport forever.
